A Great Way to Communicate With Others

This is my first class where the students are required to use a blog for the homework. In the beginning, I didn’t like it at all. I thought its going to be a waste of time. But then i realized that it’s a great way  to communicate with people in our class. I personally  don’t speak up a lot in class, so for me this blog was the way to get to know my classmates and share ideas with them. I also think commenting is a great way to communicate with one another. It give us an opportunity to relate our personal thoughts and feeling to our classmates’. Through this blog, I got to know many interesting people in class, I have not had a chance to otherwise interact with in the class.
This blog is also a great way to think about the class activities we did. It was interesting for me to see that many mistakes we made in the class activities could have been avoided if we followed the steps and principles from the book. If we didn’t have this blog, we couldn’t have analyzed our performance and realized all the mistakes we made.
Lastly, I think posting in the blog is a good alternative to doing homework (writing essays, on-line homework, ect.) Its easier to control and manage the homework part of the final grade. All we had to do is to write our thoughts and feelings about the activities we did. Nothing else.  I think that people who could not have manage to keep up with THIS AMOUNT of homework, are just lazy and don’t care about their final grades.
I think this blog is absolutely the best way to communicate with others outside of the classroom. It helped me a lot during this semester.

  1. I definitely agree with you. The Blog was very helpful in connecting our group activities with lessons, and makes those activities more memorable because we analyzed where we went wrong. Also, I too, don't speak up in class, and through the blog I was able to share my ideas and opinions. Blogging is simple and effective, and as you said it was an easy way to manage your grade! No excuse, I can see, for failing to keep up with it.

  2. I can relate to you. I talk very little and thought this blog was a great idea to communicate my thoughts. Also, don't fully agree when you said people who did not do these blogs are lazy because some individuals work and have family to manage so sometimes it slips one’s mind.

  3. Indeed, blogging is a great way to interact with one another and share you thoughts and experiences. Also, I agree with you that blogging is useful way of maintaining our grades if done in an effective manner and on time. I know you are shy but I know your dreams and aspirations via your blogs :)

  4. I think you made a good point about sharing experience about the activities we have done and writing about the mistakes that we have occurred along the way. I found that Im not the only person who was lost or did not know how to perform some things, that other people had similar difficulties and we could share these experiences with each other to learn from it and never repeat it again.

  5. Yes, blogging is the best ever alternatives for writing essays, online-homework. It is also more fun doing these kinds of assignment than the traditional ones. I also like the way it was open to student and we are able to freely express our ideas

  6. Daria, I’m having very much the same feelings about doing Blogs for this class. As I already know we have many things in common, majorly I can relate to you by having very similar personality characteristics. I’m talking about being a shy, and introvert type of person. So during the semester I used to sit on the next raw (right behind you), and even considering the fact that we both speak Russian, I was shy to start talking to you at first. Later, I saw you on the Blogger, read your topics, (at that time you had only 1 topic), and this way I got some basic info about you. It made me more comfortable to start talking to you. What is important is that this happened with many students I can now easily communicate, because we become friends doing the Blog assignment! So, let’s keep it this way! Let’s not lose our network!!! :))

  7. These blogs created more friendships. If you didn't speak to someone in class, but followed their blogs, it made it easier to recognize someone in the next class and acknowledge them on a good blog post. More professors should use our growth in technology in their curriculum.

  8. Daria I have gotten to know you so much better through your blogs. You barely speak in class or should I say Alla barely gives you a chance to speak in class! so it is always a pleasure to read your blogs. I agree with you on the blogs - I loved writing these blogs but hate doing my homework in other classes - and the reason is this blog allows me to be me and say things the way I relate to it rather than what the professor thinks is right or wrong.

P.S: Good on you for calling out the lazy people in class!!!!
